The University of Texas is one of the largest campuses of higher education in the nation. With 50,000 students plus supporting staff and faculty, the area around our beloved 40 Acres has to provide housing for many of these students. It’s just a fact of life that students want to be able to walk to class, and where else would they live if not in the immediate vicinity? For this reason, the area we call West University has been providing shelter for over 100 years. Converted Victorian mansions, contemporary condos and thousands of apartments are all clustered on the west side of Campus across from Guadalupe (the “Drag”). While remnants of neighborhoods still exist to the north and west of campus, the predominant living accommodation is the condo. And you have thousands of options from which to choose.
